Daryl Morey, Sixers Announce Multiple Roster Moves Tuesday

Daryl Morey officially announced the signing of Kelly Oubre Jr. on Tuesday.

Last week, it was revealed the Philadelphia 76ers planned to sign Kelly Oubre Jr.

On Tuesday, Sixers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey made the signing official. Per Sixers policy, the terms of the deal were not disclosed.

When Oubre suits up for the Sixers next season, he’ll don No. 9.

Coming off an impressive run with the Charlotte Hornets, Oubre is in line for a key role on the Sixers for the 2023-2024 season. Starting in 40 of his 48 appearances with the Hornets, Oubre averaged a career-high 20 points, along with five rebounds, one assist, and one steal per game last year.

With the Sixers facing uncertainty heading into the new season, along with having a new head coach and system, the team could see a few role shifts compared to last year’s run. While Oubre has had roles as a starter and a reserve throughout his career, his training camp and preseason performance will be critical in determining what his role will look like during his first run in Philly.

Prior to joining the Hornets in 2021, Oubre had runs with the Phoenix Suns and the Washington Wizards. He started his career out in DC as a first-round pick coming off his freshman season at Kansas.

Over the course of 527 games, Oubre has averaged 13 points and four rebounds while knocking down 43 percent of his shots and 33 percent of his threes. In the playoffs, he’s made 18 appearances and has averaged nine points and four rebounds.

In addition to the Oubre signing, the Sixers announced they have officially waived the undrafted rookie Marcus Bagley. Last week, the Sixers signed Bagley to an Exhibit-10 contract. The plan is for Bagley to return to the Sixers’ NBA G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats.
