Detroit Pistons Break Infamous 76ers' Record

On Tuesday night, the Detroit Pistons made history, breaking a streak held by the Philadelphia 76ers.

On Tuesday night, the Detroit Pistons dropped their second game of a back-to-back against the Brooklyn Nets, 112-118.

The match was close with Detroit holding a 14-point lead at one point in the middle of the first quarter, thanks in part to an 11-point opening quarter from Bojan Bogdanovic.

While Brooklyn would regain the lead in the second quarter, holding it until the start of the fourth, they'd nearly throw it away in the middle of the final period, as Mikal Bridges struggled from the free throw line, missing five shots from the charity stripe.

With their loss against the Nets, the Pistons extended their ongoing losing streak to 27 games, which surpassed the previous record held by the 2013-14 Philadelphia 76ers, and 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers.

On the 2013-14 76ers' side of the record, they set it having gone on a losing streak that spanned from January 31, 2014, with their loss to the Atlanta Hawks, and as far as their loss against the Houston Rockets on March 27, 2014.

With the Sixers, who were under a rookie head coach in Brett Brown, struggling to get a win, they finished that season with 19 wins, which sits as their fourth-lowest tally in a season, only trailing the 1972-73, 2015-16, 1995-96, and 2014-15 campaigns.

The current team contributed to their franchise's record getting broken as the Sixers took down the Pistons on three separate occasions, given that Detroit's streak started back on October 28th.

The two sides aren't set to meet again until April 9, which is set to be the third to final game of the season.
