Former 76er Expected To Miss Remainder of Season
This season hasn't been the easiest on the Miami Heat, when it comes to injuries, having lost some of their key players for significant time throughout the season, as both Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro have missed more than 11 games throughout the season due to injuries.
While their key starters haven't faired too well with injuries, the same can be said for some of their members off the bench as Josh Richardson sustained a dislocated shoulder in February during a match against the Boston Celtics.
Despite reported efforts to make his way back onto the court this season following the shoulder injury, Richardson won't be coming back any time soon.
According to the Associate Press' Tim Reynolds, Josh Richardson is set to be out for the remainder of the season due to corrective surgery for an injury he sustained to his shoulder.
The surgery cuts what has been a rather respectable season for the former Tennessee guard, averaging nine points on 44 percent shooting off the bench for the most part, starting in six games this season for Erik Spoelstra.
The 30-year-old should be a familiar name for the Philadelphia faithful, having played with the Sixers in the 2019-20 season, appearing in 55 games in which he averaged 13 points on 43 percent shooting.
Richardson's role on the team could be filled by fellow NBA veteran Patty Mills, who the Heat acquired on Tuesday afternoon, following a short stint with the Atlanta Hawks earlier this season.
When Do The Sixers Play The Heat?
The Sixers are set to meet with the Heat on two more occasions this season, on March 18 and April 4 respectively, as they look to bounce back off of losses in each of their previous meetings this season.
Both matches will prove to be important as the two sides are currently tied for the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference, trailing a half game behind the New York Knicks and Orlando Magic for the fourth spot.
