Former Sixer Siding With Miami Heat in Upcoming Play-In Matchup
After finishing the regular season in seventh place, the Philadelphia 76ers find themselves in the play-in tournament. On Wednesday night, they’ll host the Miami Heat, with the winner securing the seventh seed and playing the New York Knicks in round one.
Leading up to the play-in, countless analysts have shared their thoughts on how things are going to unfold. During a recent episode of his podcast, former Sixer Danny Green gave out his picks. He opted not to side with the Sixers and went with the Heat to win this game.
“I don’t see [the Sixers beating the Heat] twice in two weeks,” Green said on his podcast. “I think Miami prepares for this, I think Miami finds a way. This one is a 50/50 toss up, but I think Miami is going to win this one and get the seventh seed.”
Green is referring to when these teams faced off in Miami back on April 4th. Thanks to a near triple-double performance from Tyrese Maxey, the Sixers won this crucial matchup by a final score of 109-105. Joel Embiid also put together a strong performance (29 points) in just his second game back from injury.
In the season series, these teams split their four matchups. That said, Miami could potentially be without multiple key players for this play-in game. Terry Rozier and Josh Richardson have been ruled out, and sharpshooter Duncan Robinson is listed as probable.
Along with having home-court advantage, the Sixers also have momentum on their side. They finished the regular season on a strong note, winning each of their last eight games. Now, Embiid and company will look to continue trending in the right direction as they prepare for a familiar foe in Jimmy Butler and the Heat.
