Former Sixers Veteran Makes Critical Career Decision
Not long ago, former Philadelphia 76ers wing Danuel House vowed to return to the NBA soon. So far, he remains on the free agency market as the 2023-2024 NBA season winds down.
It appears House is getting impatient with a lack of movement since he’s become available. This week, the veteran decided to change agencies, according to The Athletic’s Kelly Iko, which is a sign that he’s relying on another representative to find him a new landing spot after coming up short as of late.
Since his days on the Houston Rockets, House has struggled to find stability in the NBA. During the 2021-2022 season, the Rockets waived House. Eventually, he signed a ten-day contract with the New York Knicks. After that deal expired, House joined the Utah Jazz for multiple ten-day contracts. After spending nearly a month with the team on multiple ten-days, House signed a contract with the Jazz for the remainder of the 2022 season.
In the following summer, House joined the Sixers via free agency. At the time, he inked a two-year contract, which had a player option attached for the second and final season. In 2022-2023, House appeared in 56 games with Philadelphia. In the playoffs, he averaged just six minutes in seven games.
House stuck with the Sixers after picking up his second-year option. However, he wasn’t in the team’s long-term plans. Last month, the Sixers made a series of trades ahead of the deadline, and sent House packing to join the Detroit Pistons. There wouldn’t be a chance for House to suit up for the rebuilding franchise, though.
The Pistons waived House immediately. On February 8, the veteran became a free agent and hasn’t found a landing spot since.
Perhaps, a new agent could help House get a fresh perspective on the open market.
While House’s time with the Sixers didn’t end on a high note, the 30-year-old wing has plenty of experience under his belt. Since 2016, House has played with six different organizations. He has 294 regular season games under his belt, with 107 of them being starts.
Overall, House has averaged seven points on 43 percent shooting from the field and 36 percent shooting from beyond the arc. He also has 29 playoff appearances, averaging 20 minutes on the floor during runs with the Rockets, Jazz, and the Sixers.
