Roughly two weeks ago, Marcus Morris joined a third different team this season.

As the veteran searched for a potential winning scenario, he collected a tryout with the Cleveland Cavaliers by inking a ten-day deal. Morris’ decision to join the Cavs came one month after his final run with the Philadelphia 76ers.

At this point, the Cavs are confident that Morris could have an impact on their team for the 2024 NBA Playoffs. After taking down the Sixers on Friday night, the Cavs advanced to 45-29 on the year. They are fourth in the Eastern Conference, trailing the New York Knicks, Milwaukee Bucks, and Boston Celtics.

With his temporary contract running out, the Cavaliers announced they have officially signed the veteran to a contract to keep him on board for the remainder of the season ahead of their battle against Philadelphia at home on Friday.

When the 2023-2024 season started, Morris was beginning his fifth season with the Los Angeles Clippers. A few games into the year, Morris was included in a blockbuster trade. The Philly native was excited to join his hometown team.

Morris’s run with the Sixers would last 37 games. Averaging 17 minutes on the court, and even picking up seven starts, Morris produced seven points per game during his Philadelphia tenure. He proved to still be an efficient shooter by draining 44 percent of his field goals and knocking down 40 percent of his threes.

On the day of the trade deadline, the Sixers used Morris and his contract as a way to acquire Buddy Hield from the Indiana Pacers. In a three-team trade, Morris landed with the San Antonio Spurs. Not long after the deal went down, the Spurs waived Morris.

The veteran remained on the free agency market for quite some time. While it was reported he was considering linking up with the Minnesota Timberwolves, those plans never came to life. Instead, he lands on a possible Eastern Conference contender, as the Cavaliers are looking to make a playoff push for the second season in a row.

With 67 postseason games under his belt, Morris brings some valuable playoff experience to the table in Cleveland.
