Former Sixers Pick Jahlil Okafor Lands With Delaware Blue Coats
Jahlil Okafor is headed to the Delaware Blue Coats, along with Bruno Caboclo, Matt Mooney, and Shabazz Napier. According to the Blue Coats, they have traded player rights of Skylar Mays, Justin Robinson, and Raphiael Putney to the Mexico City Capitanes to land the four prospects.
Back in 2015, Okafor was a high-end draft pick for the Philadelphia 76ers. As the Sixers were still in the midst of their rebuild, Okafor was selected third overall in the 2015 NBA Draft.
In his first season with the Sixers, Okafor started in 48 games. He averaged 18 points and seven rebounds while spending 30 minutes per game on the court.
The following year, Okafor saw his playing time slightly increase to 22 minutes per game. He averaged 12 points and five rebounds in 50 games.
During year three with the Sixers, Okafor appeared in just two games. A couple of months into the 2017-2018 season, he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets. Since then, Okafor has played for the Nets, New Orleans Pelicans, and the Detroit Pistons.
This year, Okafor’s G League rights were acquired by Mexico City. With the Capitanes, he started in 12 of the 16 games he played. Spending roughly 27 minutes on the court, Okafor averaged 19 points and eight rebounds with Mexico City.
Now, Okafor's G League playing rights belong to the Blue Coats. As of right now, it's unclear when Okafor, Caboclo, Mooney, and Napier could make their debuts.
