Former Sixers Veteran Danny Green Traded by Grizzlies

Danny Green is on the move once again just months after getting traded to the Grizzlies from the Sixers.

Danny Green is on the move again. After the Philadelphia 76ers traded away the veteran sharpshooter on the night of the 2022 NBA Draft in the deal that netted them De’Anthony Melton, Green landed with the Memphis Grizzlies.

At the time, Green was recovering from an ACL injury, which he suffered during the Sixers’ Game 6 loss against the Miami Heat last season. While it was initially assumed that Green would miss the entire 2022-2023 season, Green vowed to return to the court before the All-Star break.

Green’s plan was a success. After missing the first 50 games for the Grizzlies, he made his Memphis debut on February 1 in the matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers. He played in three of the Grizzlies’ last four matchups.

During that time, Green spent an average of 15 minutes on the court. He struggled from the field, draining 27 percent of his shots. However, on three three-point attempts per game, Green knocked down 38 percent of his shots.

Before Green could get his feet wet in Memphis, he’s already on the move. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Green was involved in a multi-team trade, and the veteran will land with the Houston Rockets

Considering Green is now landing on a 13-42 Rockets team that’s placed last in Western Conference, all eyes will be on him moving forward as he becomes a potential buyout candidate.

With several years of championship experience under his belt, Green could be a prospect for a handful of contenders across the league. And in the event Green is bought out, he could be a name the Sixers take a look at, as they’ll keep an eye on the buyout market after the trade deadline.

Message for Matisse

One name that’s been consistently thrown in trade rumors for the Sixers consistently is Matisse Thybulle. The defensive standout was rumored to have multiple teams interested in services. As he navigates through another deadline, Tobias Harris revealed his message to the young veteran on Wednesday.

No Noise Until After the Deadline

Sixers sharpshooter Georges Niang might not be a name thrown in rumors for the Sixers, but even if he was, he wouldn’t pay attention. Niang discussed his past memories of playing through the trade deadline, and made it clear that he does all he can to avoid hearing all of the outside noise.
