James Harden's Cryptic Instagram Message After Trade Request
As James Harden’s trade request has yet to translate into an actual move, the future of the Philadelphia 76ers guard remains unclear at the moment.
When Harden initially placed himself on the trade block, there was mutual interest between the Los Angeles Clippers and the ten-time All-Star guard. However, the Clippers weren’t willing to meet Daryl Morey and the 76ers’ asking price for Harden.
Weeks went by without the Sixers and the Clippers gaining traction on any trade discussions, but it was reported earlier this week that Harden intends to play with the Clippers next season. The Sixers have proven in the past that they won’t back down from a player’s holdout by taking less in a trade just for the sake of moving them. Daryl Morey publicly reiterated having a similar stance once again earlier this week.
On Wednesday, a report indicated that Harden was not expected to skip Sixers’ training camp if he’s still on the roster come October. But a cryptic message on Instagram hints that Harden is ready for whatever that comes during the offseason.
“Been comfortable for so long,” Harden wrote in an Instagram story. “It’s time to get uncomfortable.”
Being that his message isn’t exactly direct, every assumption about what he’s talking about is just speculation at this time. However, considering there’s been plenty of spotlight on Harden and his trade request this week specifically, it’s hard not to assume he’s talking about his situation with the 76ers.
It's unclear when the situation will be resolved, but both parties are preparing for all scenarios ahead.
