As the 2023 offseason progresses, Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid continues putting in work ahead of training camp. Recently, the reigning MVP has been spotted working out with some notable NBA talents.

Last week, Embiid was spotted in the gym with Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum. Over the years, the two have developed a friendship as they’ve worked together in the offseason with the same training staff.

But this time around, Embiid was seen working with Miami Heat star Tyler Herro.

Both standouts are coming off playoff runs, which were affected by injuries. When the Sixers faced the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs, Embiid battled a knee injury in Game 3. When the team visited Brooklyn for a fourth and final game, the big man was not with the team as his squad completed the series sweep.

Although Embiid traveled to Boston for Game 1 of the second round, he didn’t get cleared to play. By Game 2, he declared himself back. Embiid went on to face the Celtics for the next six games. Unfortunately, Philadelphia fell short by losing the final two games of the series, sealing their playoff fate.

As for Tyler Herro, he dealt with injury concerns much earlier in the playoffs. During Miami’s Game 1 win over the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round, Herro checked in for just under 20 minutes. He ended up suffering a broken hand, which automatically ruled him out until the NBA Finals at the earliest.

At the time, the Heat were a long shot to make it as far as the Finals, considering they were the East’s eighth seed. Seventeen games later, Miami shocked the basketball world. After taking down the Bucks, New York Knicks, and Boston Celtics, the Heat went head-to-head with the Denver Nuggets in the 2023 NBA Finals.

While Herro was projected to return to the court for the Finals, there was a mutual decision for Miami to continue working with what they’ve got while Herro prevents risking any further injury. Now, it looks like the Sixers’ Eastern Conference rival is healthy and ready to get back in action.
