Mac McClung Dons Sixers Jersey for First Time Before Dunk Contest
In a series of roster moves this week, the Philadelphia 76ers added one of the standouts from their NBA G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, to the roster.
Mac McClung, the former NBA G League Rookie of the Year, inked a two-way deal with the Sixers earlier this week. In order to make room for McClung, the Sixers waived the rookie forward Julian Champagnie, who will join the San Antonio Spurs after getting claimed off of waivers.
After the Sixers added McClung, they went into a matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night. Similar to the other two-way prospect Louis King, McClung was not around the team as he was on assignment with the Blue Coats.
While McClung didn’t get to wear his new threads this week, the G League standout finally threw on his Sixers uniform while out in Utah for NBA All-Star Weekend, where he’ll participate in multiple events.
On Friday, McClung will participate in the NBA’s Rising Stars Challenge. Playing for Team Jason Terry, McClung will join Sidy Cissoko, Scoot Henderson, Mojave King, Kenneth Lofton Jr., Leonard Miller, and Scotty Pippen Jr. The Challenge takes place on Friday, February 17, at 9 PM ET.
After that, McClung will take part in the dunk contest, where he’ll battle it out against Kenyon Martin Jr., Trey Murphy, and Jericho Sims. The event is on Saturday, February 18, at 8 PM ET.
Lastly, McClung will take part in the NBA G League Next Up Game, joining Luka Garza’s squad. McClung will join players such as Sharife Cooper, Frank Jackson, Carlin Jones, Isaiah Mobley, Shareef O’Neal, Zavaier Simpson, Gabe York, Saben Lee, Trevelin Queen, and Charles Bassey.
The Next Up Game will take place on February 19 at 3 PM ET.
