NBA Insider Reveals 76ers’ Current Approach in Trade Market

Insider reports Sixers plan to remain patient in coming weeks

As trade season gets ready to officially begin in the NBA, the Philadelphia 76ers are a key team to watch. Aside from being a team with championship aspirations, they also have more than enough assets to swing a deal.

Since the James Harden trade, the Sixers have embraced a two-star model surrounded by depth. Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey continue to perform at a high level, and the supporting cast looks more comfortable in their roles with each passing game. Among the key standouts are Kelly Oubre Jr., Nic Batum, and Patrick Beverley

In his latest news dump, NBA insider Jake Fischer touched on the Sixers' plans leading up to the February 8th trade deadline. He cited that the front office has no plans for any major shake-ups in the near future and plans on waiting things out.

"The Sixers are not expected to pursue any significant roster changes until much closer to February’s trade deadline, league sources told Yahoo Sports," Fischer wrote.  "No matter how often Philadelphia and the Los Angeles Lakers get linked to Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine. It remains difficult to parse through the rumor mill and whispers among pro personnel scouts to find legitimate suitors that are actively pursuing LaVine’s services."

Given how they've started the year strong, staying patient is the right approach for the Sixers. The group continues to rack up wins, allowing the front office to sit back and survey the field for trades that make sense.

Another reason why waiting is the right decision is because of the current landscape. Zach LaVine is the only big name available, and the Sixers don't seem too interested in taking on his sizable contract.

Daryl Morey has proven in the past that he's capable of being patient for the right deal to come along. Waiting until the trade deadline gives him the most leverage, as some teams might be pressured into getting deals done. With roughly two months to go until the deadline, rushing to get a trade done now makes little sense for the Sixers in their current situation.
