It appears that Marcus Morris could land back in the Eastern Conference this season.

According to former Philadelphia 76ers guard Patrick Beverley, Morris intends to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers haven’t made anything official just yet, but it’s necessary to note that Beverley and Morris are good friends and former teammates.

While they spent time together playing for the Los Angeles Clippers in recent years, they also wrapped up a playing stint together in Philly, which ended on the day of the trade deadline.

In one deal with the Indiana Pacers and the San Antonio Spurs, the Sixers shipped Morris off to the latter organization, which resulted in the veteran getting waived shortly after. As expected, Morris was hit with an opportunity to sign with a contender for the rest of the season.

As for Beverley, he was moved to the Milwaukee Bucks. Unlike Morris, Beverley ended up in a situation where his team is already in playoff contention, and hopes to fight for a title this season.

Last month, it was assumed that Morris’s next landing spot was going to be the Minnesota Timberwolves. It appears there might’ve been a change of heart since Morris remained a free agent for weeks.

At this point, Morris is expected to land with the Cavaliers. With a 42-24 record, the Cavaliers place third in the Eastern Conference, trailing the Bucks and the Boston Celtics

This season, Morris spent time with the Clippers and the Sixers. Although he didn’t play for LA this year, he appeared in 37 games with the Sixers after getting traded in October.

In Philly, Morris averaged 17 minutes on the court. During that time, he drained 44 percent of his shots and 40 percent of his threes, producing seven points per game. He also came down with three rebounds per game.

Morris served his short time in Philly well, but the Sixers used his contract as a way to acquire Buddy Hield from the Pacers at the deadline. Now, Morris will land on his eighth team since entering the NBA in 2011.
