For the second straight season, the Philadelphia 76ers are hitting the road for training camp as they prepare for the 2023-2024 NBA season.

This year, the team is headed to Colorado for a week to begin working on their next journey. The offseason preparation will officially begin on October 3, running until October 6 in Fort Collins.

Last year, the Sixers stayed on the East Coast but went down to South Carolina following media day. As former Sixers head coach Doc Rivers wanted to keep up with an old trend of his after the league limited travel for a couple of seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization agreed to travel to The Citadel’s campus for a week-long training session.

During that time, the Sixers not only worked out, but they also participated in team-bonding events while exploring Charleston’s history. When the Sixers returned from training camp last season, players felt it was a positive experience heading into the 2022-2023 run.

Although Doc Rivers is no longer with the organization, receiving word that he would be relieved of his duties back in May following the playoffs, Philadelphia will keep up with the trend of traveling for training camp this season under new head coach Nick Nurse.

For Nurse, the week on the road should be a good opportunity for him to get to know the team better. After spending the last ten seasons as a member of the Toronto Raptors coaching staff, a lot of adjustments will have to be made as he gets settled in with a new organization — especially since the Sixers have a handful of players who have been around for at least one season.

Then, following training camp, the Sixers will hit the road for the start of the 2023 preseason. First up for Philly is their playoff enemy, the Boston Celtics

After they pay a visit to Boston on October 8, the Sixers will then host the Celtics at home three nights later, before the Sixers close out their preseason road schedule in Brooklyn and wrap up the four-game run with a home game against Atlanta on October 20.
