Sixers News: Former Bucks First-Rounder Expected to Land 10-Day Deal
The Philadelphia 76ers are expected to be bringing in another player to compete on a temporary contract. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Sixers are adding DJ Wilson to the roster with a 10-Day contract.
Back in 2017, Wilson entered the NBA as the 17th overall pick in the NBA Draft. He was coming off of a multi-year stint with the Michigan Wolverines in the NCAA.
At the time, Wilson landed with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Through his first three seasons in the NBA, Wilson appeared in 107 games with the Bucks. He averaged 12 minutes off the bench. Throughout that stint, Wilson produced four points per game while averaging 41 percent of his field goals. He also came down with three rebounds per game.
After Wilson appeared in 12 games for the Bucks during the 2020-2021 season, he found himself traded to the Houston Rockets. He was included in the deal that involved former 76ers forward PJ Tucker, who landed in Milwaukee for his championship run.
Wilson’s run with the Rockets would last 23 games. During that stint, he came off the bench and averaged six points and four rebounds. He became a free agent in the offseason and signed on with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
There was no run with the Thunder for Wilson. Instead, he competed in the NBA G League. During the 2021-2022 season, Wilson collected a 10-Day contract with the Toronto Raptors. At the time, he competed for Sixers head coach Nick Nurse for four games. Although it was a short stint, Wilson averaged eight points per game during that time, which marked his career-best.
The Raptors offered Wilson his last NBA action. Since then, he’s played in the G League, competing for the Orlando Magic’s affiliate. The Sixers are expected to give him a tryout as they search for depth in the frontcourt while approaching the final month of the 2023-2024 season.
