Philadelphia 76ers fans continue to see signs of a potential Joel Embiid return this season.

As the Sixers prepared for their Sunday night matchup against the Toronto Raptors on the road, some practice footage of Embiid putting work in went viral, as it reminded fans that his return to action could be coming very soon.

Another Embiid Sighting Surfaces

The Sixers hyped up the big man’s return to practice last week by sharing a photo of Embiid competing at the team’s facility in Camden, New Jersey, along with a cryptic GIF.

While many speculated Embiid’s return could come as early as last Friday night’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, that narrative was quickly shot down, as Embiid was ruled out for the Ohio-based outing.

Regardless of his status heading into the weekend, Embiid’s presence on the road with the Sixers was still a major step in the right direction being that he hasn’t traveled with the Sixers since he underwent a procedure to correct his meniscus injury.

When the Sixers returned to the court on Sunday to battle the Toronto Raptors, Embiid was ruled out once again. Now, the Sixers could be looking at a potential return this week.

The first opportunity would come on Tuesday night, when the Sixers host the Oklahoma City Thunder. If not then, the Sixers could then consider one of the matchups against the Miami Heat, Memphis Grizzlies, or the San Antonio Spurs.

At this point, the Sixers have seven games left on the schedule. They currently aren’t a lock to make the 2024 NBA Playoffs, as a 40-35 record has them placed eighth in the Eastern Conference, and facing a potential Play-In matchup against the Chicago Bulls.

Any version of a healthy Joel Embiid at this point is a plus for Philadelphia, who has won just four of its previous ten games. The sooner the big man gets back, the better, as the Sixers have made quite a few changes since the MVP’s latest appearance.
