Sixers' G League Veteran Preaches Preparations For Playoffs
On Saturday night, the Delaware Blue Coats wrapped up their regular season with a brutal 121-95 loss to the Oklahoma City Blue, which extended their recent losing streak to three games. Given this recent fall from grace, the Blue Coats have dropped down to the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference, which is enough to guarantee playoff basketball.
The defending G-League champions are set to start their playoff journey with a match against the Indiana Mad Ants, with veteran Aminu Mohammed preaching to his teammates about the importance of being prepared for anything that may be thrown at them.
“They got to be ready, you know, they got to be ready because anything can happen,” said Mohammed, “You gotta be ready when your number is called and you got to watch and see what's going on out there, how you can impact and help the team win.”
Mohammed was a part of the team which managed to take down the Rio Grande Valley Vipers last season in a swift sweep, making a brief appearance in the determining match, while accepting a bigger role on the team this season, as the team oversaw some major overturns in their roster.
Coming into the season as defending champions isn’t exactly a cakewalk according to the Nigerian guard, but the additional degree of difficulty is something which helps fuel his own competitive ambitions.
“Winning the championship last year, coming back and trying to do it back-to-back obviously it's not going to be easy,” explained Mohammed, “which makes it fun because you want to accept that challenge and go get it, you know, and work as hard, even if you gotta work harder than last year to even do it.”
The Blue Coats start their playoff journey with a match against the Mad Ants on Tuesday, April 2nd, with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m. EST.
