Sixers vs. Knicks: OG Anunoby’s Official Injury Report Status
UPDATE: OG Anunoby has been cleared for action, per SNY’s Ian Begley.
The New York Knicks hope to get a key reinforcement on Tuesday night when they host the Philadelphia 76ers once again.
On Monday, reports indicated that the Knicks cleared their veteran wing, OG Anunoby, for action. While his return on Tuesday night isn’t guaranteed, there is a possibility he could be back on the floor to face the Sixers.
According to New York’s injury report, Anunoby’s official status in the hours leading up to the game is questionable. He’s likely viewed as a game-time decision.
For a Knicks team that has been on a bit of a roller coaster as of late, Anunoby’s return could be significant for the final stretch run of the regular season.
Back in December, Anunoby switched teams via trade. After being considered a common trade target for contending teams for multiple seasons, the Toronto Raptors finally decided to move their homegrown prospect.
The Knicks debuted Anunoby on New Year’s Day. With the two-way standout in their lineup, New York found a ton of success early on.
For 14 games, Anunoby averaged 16 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block per game. He was efficient from the field, knocking down 52 percent of his shots. From deep, Anunoby was averaging 39 percent while taking five attempts per game.
Following the Knicks’ January 27 matchup against the Miami Heat, Anunoby went out of the lineup for a significant stretch. After undergoing surgery on his right elbow, the former Raptors wing was a notable loss for New York.
With Anunoby in the lineup, the Knicks won 12 of 14 games. Without him, they are 8-10. New York’s latest loss came against the Sixers, which took place on Sunday night.
The Sixers and the Knicks will tip-off at 7:30 PM ET on Tuesday.
