Phoenix Suns’ Popular Signing Expected to Debut vs. Sixers
On Wednesday, the Philadelphia 76ers are firing up a road trip out West. The stint begins in Arizona, where they’ll take on the Phoenix Suns.
For the home team, they have an exciting debut occurring, as the newly-signed veteran guard Isaiah Thomas is set to suit up for the first time since he inked a 10-Day deal.
Thomas is surely no stranger to the Sixers and the rest of the NBA. The 35-year-old guard first entered the league in 2011 and became a prominent player during his stint with the Boston Celtics, which began in 2015.
Wednesday’s game marks the start of a second stint in Phoenix for Thomas. Following his three-year run with the Sacramento Kings at the start of his career, Thomas appeared in 46 games for the Suns in 2014-2015. In February of 2015, Thomas was moved for a first-round pick and a player.
After his run in Boston, Thomas struggled to stick with an organization. During the 2017-2018 season, he played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers. In 2018-2019, he competed for the Denver Nuggets. His run with the Washington Wizards in 2019-2020 lasted 40 games. After that, he appeared in just 25 games across two seasons, having stints with the New Orleans Pelicans, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and Charlotte Hornets.
Thomas has battled for an NBA comeback lately. Recently, he joined the Utah Jazz’s G League affiliate to showcase where he’s at after being off the court since March 2022. Not long into his run with Salt Lake City, Thomas got a call from Phoenix, where he’ll spend nearly two weeks competing, beginning with a matchup against the Sixers on Wednesday.
The two teams are set to battle it out at 10 PM ET.
