The Philadelphia 76ers’ injury concerns won’t go away entirely on Monday when they face the San Antonio Spurs for the first time this season.

While the Sixers have removed the star center Joel Embiid from the injury report after deeming him questionable before he was cleared for action against the Charlotte Hornets over the weekend, the Sixers still have a notable list of reserves present on the injury report on Monday.

Who Could Be on Pace to Play?

Philly’s veteran guard Patrick Beverley has been dealing with an illness. Although he missed Saturday’s game, which marked just his second absence of the year, Beverley is on pace to make his return to the court on Monday, as he’s considered probable to play.

Meanwhile, the veteran big man Mo Bamba is dealing with a common issue in Philadelphia right now, as knee soreness has affected his playing status as of late. The last time Bamba took the floor for the Sixers was on January 12, when they defeated the Sacramento Kings. Since then, Bamba has missed four games in a row. He could make his return on Monday, as he’s questionable to play.

As for the young veteran Jaden Springer, he’s in a similar boat as Bamba. His last appearance was against Sacramento, and he went inactive for four straight games due to tendinitis in his ankle. For Monday’s game, Springer enters the matchup with a questionable status.

Who Will Sit Out?

The Sixers have hoped for Robert Covington’s return to happen much sooner than this, but his absence has spanned multiple weeks at this point.

Dealing with inflammation in his knee, Covington hasn’t played since his five-minute shift against the Chicago Bulls on December 30. With nine absences in a row to begin 2024, Covington’s unfortunate trend will continue, as he’s been ruled out for Monday’s game.

Joining Covington will be the starting guard, De’Anthony Melton. As back issues linger for Melton, the two-way standout has not been cleared for action just yet. He’s set to miss his fifth-straight game on Monday night and has so far failed to appear in more than two games since January started.
