Sixers News: James Harden's Status vs. Celtics Unclear
On Wednesday, the Philadelphia 76ers will continue their preseason with a rematch against the Boston Celtics. Whether James Harden will play or not remains unclear.
After getting a day of rest on Monday, the Sixers returned to their practice facility in Camden, New Jersey, on Tuesday. According to Sixers head coach Nick Nurse, James Harden was a full participant in the practice session.
However, that doesn’t mean Harden’s on pace to play Wednesday.
According to NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Noah Levick, Nurse noted that Harden’s status is to be determined. While Nurse didn’t point out anybody else outside of the injured Furkan Korkmaz, he seems to have an idea that other players’ statuses for Wednesday could be up in the air as well.
Despite a two-day holdout from Harden this offseason, the ten-time All-Star guard has been back in action with his teammates working on his game business as usual. While his trade request remains active, Harden is taking the high road and doing all he can to avoid becoming a distraction as the Sixers prepare for the 2023-2024 season.
When the team made its preseason debut on Sunday night against the Boston Celtics on the road, Harden was in Boston but not a participant in the matchup. The ten-time All-Star missed the game, along with Joel Embiid, De’Anthony Melton, and Korkmaz.
The Sixers are set to host the Celtics for a rematch on Wednesday following their 114-106 loss. The two teams will tip off at 7:00 PM ET.
