On Tuesday night, the Philadelphia 76ers took the floor at Madison Square Garden for the second time this week. After dealing with a litany of injuries, they got some reinforcements in the form of Tyrese Maxey

Prior to this matchup, Maxey had missed the last four games after entering the NBA's concussion protocol. The injury occurred against the Dallas Mavericks after he took a knee to the head.

While it wasn't enough to lead the Sixers to a win, Maxey still performed well in his first game back. He logged 28 minutes and finished with a stat line of 17 points, two rebounds, and four assists.

After the game, Maxey was asked about his first taste of in-game action since getting out of protocol. Fatigue was one of the main things he brought up, stating that he wasn't able to do much over the past week.

“Pretty good,” Maxey stated., per Sixers Wire. “Felt pretty good. I was definitely tired when I came out the first time. My wind. It’s kind of difficult because, like, only so much you could do where you ended up protocol, but uh, overall was alright.”

It goes without saying how important it is for the Sixers to have Maxey back in the lineup. With Joel Embiid still out of action, they need everyone on the floor to try and remain competitive. The Sixers currently find themselves in the play-in tournament, but are only two games out of fourth place in the East.

Maxey had a chance to get his legs under him against the Knicks, and now faces a big challenge. The team continues its road trip Thursday as they head to Milwaukee to take on the red-hot Bucks.
