Sixers' Tyrese Maxey Reacts to LeBron James' Accomplishment

All eyes were on the Los Angeles Lakers matchup at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night, as LeBron James was 36 points away from passing NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and becoming the NBA’s All-Time scoring leader.
Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey was in Boston on Tuesday night and tuned into the game. Maxey, who is close with LeBron since they are under the same agency, was happy to see somebody he considers a friend and a mentor etch himself in the history books once again.
“That’s one of the OGs, for sure,” said Maxey on Wednesday morning following shootaround. “You know, I appreciate him. Always showing love and also being able to like give me a lot of knowledge and working out with me a little bit in the summertime. So, you just appreciate greatness.”
Although the Lakers lost to Oklahoma City on Tuesday, James scored 38 points by knocking down 13 of his 20 attempted shots in 34 minutes.
“That was amazing, man. That was amazing to see,” Maxey continued. “Just the anticipation and everybody’s excitement. Everybody, the crowd was, I saw a picture where like everybody had their phone out except for one person that was crazy. That’s a dope accomplishment for him. Kudos to him.”
With the scoring title in LeBron’s hands, he’ll have the opportunity to continue building on his legacy Thursday night when the Lakers host the Milwaukee Bucks. Meanwhile, Maxey and the Sixers are set to take on the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, tipping off at 7:30 PM ET.
