Sixers Will Sign Mac McClung to Two-Way Deal

The Sixers are bringing on Mac McClung with a two-way deal.

The Philadelphia 76ers plan to sign the veteran guard Mac McClung to a two-way contract, a source confirmed to All76ers on Tuesday. In order to free up an available two-way slot, the Sixers will waive the rookie Julian Champagnie.

This season, McClung the Sixers’ G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, ahead of the 2022-2023 season. During the Showcase Cup stretch, he appeared in 18 games, drawing nine starts. Throughout that time, McClung averaged 17 points while draining 43 percent of his shots.

Throughout the G League regular season, McClung started in 16 of 18 games for the Blue Coats. Spending roughly 26 minutes on the court per game, McClung has put up 19 points per game while dishing out five assists per game. He’s drained 58 percent of his shots from the field and knocked down 50 percent of his threes on 4.3 attempts per game. 

McClung joins Louis King as the other two-way prospect on the Sixers’ roster. 

This year, the Sixers have had numerous prospects take up two-way slots. When the season started, Champagnie and the rookie big man Michael Foster Jr. filled out the roster. After Foster was waived, the Sixers acquired the veteran guard, Saben Lee.

Once the Sixers got healthier, they waived Lee and brought on their current two-way forward, Louis King. Champagnie will land on the waiver wire this time around. In the Showcase Cup run this year, Champagnie started in 14 games, averaging 22 points, seven rebounds, and one assist, while draining 35 percent of his threes. 

During the G League regular season, he started in 18 games, putting up 14 points per game and coming down with six rebounds per game while shooting 35 percent from deep.
