Timberwolves Superstar Supports Eagles Before Facing 76ers

The Minnesota Timberwolves were in Philadelphia on Wednesday night to take on the 76ers.
Although Minnesota superstar Karl Anthony-Towns is a homegrown member of the Timberwolves, the New Jersey native showed his loyalty towards his favorite football team on Wednesday prior to his run against the Sixers at the Wells Fargo Center.
Arriving at the arena on the morning of the matchup for a shootaround session, Towns donned a Kelly green Eagles jacket, which doesn’t come as much of a surprise, considering Towns has shown his support for the Eagles many times in the past.

Back in 2018, when the Eagles completed their first successful Super Bowl run in franchise history over the Minnesota Vikings, Towns voiced his support for his favorite team, defeating the team that many of his fans rooted for.
"I'm an Eagles fan since I was young,” Towns told ESPN years back. “I’m always going to stay loyal to my team. Regardless of what happened that game, I was winning both ways. I was going to have a huge amount of support for the Vikings if they won, obviously was going to have support for the Eagles if they won. It was a win-win for me."
Wednesday night was the first and final time Towns would step foot in Philadelphia for a hoops matchup. Since the Sixers and the Timberwolves are out-of-conference contenders, they only meet twice a year.
Unfortunately for Towns, his trip back to Philly didn’t end the way he would’ve liked it to. After the Timberwolves defeated the Sixers in their first meeting back in November, the 76ers got their revenge, defeating the red-hot Timberwolves 127-113.
Towns and the team’s frontcourt had their hands full with the reigning MVP, Joel Embiid, who went off for 51 points on 17-25 shooting from the field and 17-18 shooting from the charity stripe.
With Wednesday night’s victory, the Sixers improved to 19-8. Meanwhile, Towns’ Timberwolves leave Philadelphia still leading the Western Conference with a 20-6 record.
