Tyrese Maxey Closing Out March On a High Note From Deep
At this point in the year, Tyrese Maxey is the Philadelphia 76ers’ most consistent shooter from beyond the arc. In 53 games, the young guard has attempted a total of 320 threes. He leads the Sixers in three-point percentage as he’s knocked down 42 percent of his shots.
During the month of March, Maxey has been red-hot from beyond the arc. According to StatMuse, the former Kentucky product has the third-highest three-point percentage this month, as he’s drained 52 percent of his deep shots.
Maxey achieved that percentage in 12 games of action. Only two players are currently averaging better numbers as Sacramento’s Kevin Huerter has knocked down 57 percent of his threes in eight games, while Milwaukee’s Joe Ingles has drained 58 percent of his threes in ten games.
Both Ingles and Huerter achieved their numbers on lower attempts, as neither exceeded 52 throughout the month at this point. As for Maxey, he’s confidently chucked up 79 threes this month, which is the third-most attempts, sitting behind only Trey Murphy and Stephen Curry.
Maxey’s progress from beyond the arc since he entered the NBA has been impressive. After he averaged just 30 percent from deep during his rookie season, Maxey improved that number to 43 percent on four attempts per game during his sophomore effort.
While he’s averaging 42 percent this season, Maxey’s been taking more shots from three per game. Fortunately for the Sixers, he’s really heating up at the right time, as the playoffs are around the corner.
