Tyrese Maxey Downgraded vs. Warriors
On Wednesday night, the Philadelphia 76ers are set to take on the Golden State Warriors, as they look to snap their two game losing streak which has seen them struggle to keep up in the Eastern Conference standings.
In their last time out, the Sixers took on Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and the rest of the Dallas Mavericks, in a match that tested the host's muscles without Joel Embiid, who they'll be without for the foreseeable future.
Philadelphia came out of the gates bursting against Dallas, outscoring the Western conference side by four points heading into half time, in part due to scoring feats from Kelly Oubre Jr and Tyrese Maxey, who combined for 20 points.
Yet, while the Sixers had the momentum leaving the first half, they lost it in the latter half of the game as the Jason Kidd's side closed the gap and propelled themselves ahead of Philadelphia by scoring 41 points in the fourth quarter to the host's 28.
Doncic and Irving would pick up their games after a lackluster opening two quarters, scoring 27 points between the pair, which would be more than enough to sink the Sixers for their second straight game.
While Maxey proved to be an offensive beacon for Nick Nurse on Monday night, ending the night with 15 points and seven assists, the same may not be said on Wednesday night, as the 23-year-old has been downgraded due to an illness.
If the Sixers' All-Star is to be out, Nick Nurse would lose a massive part of his offensive engine as Maxey is currently the team's scoring leader behind the aforementioned Embiid, averaging 25.9 points per game on an efficient 45 percent from the field.
Maxey is the latest Sixer to struggle with an illness after Tobias Harris sat out of Philadelphia's blow out loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday due to an illness.
The Sixers are set to take on the Warriors on Wednesday night, with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST.
