On Wednesday night, the Philadelphia 76ers took on the Minnesota Timberwolves, looking to reignite the spark that got them to be 6-1 through the first three weeks of December, following a close loss earlier in the week against the Chicago Bulls.

They would more than reignite it as the Sixers stormed through the Timberwolves, beating them, 127-113, as Joel Embiid dropped 51 points, while Tyrese Maxey followed suit with 35 points of his own.

Following their win, Maxey explained that there was an emphasis on winning Wednesday night's match, given the result of their match on Monday night.

"I think it was big because it was the next one up, especially after losing to Chicago, that's why it was so big," said Maxey, "you never want to lose two games in a row, especially at home."

So far this season, the Sixers have remained fairly successful when it comes to not dropping multiple games in a row, including home matches, as they've only lost consecutive games three times this season, with only one of those sets being lost at home.

Given that the Minnesota Timberwolves have come out as the team to beat in the Western Conference, posting a record of 20-6, Maxey and the rest of the Sixers saw them as a challenge, but one they weren't afraid to take on.

"We try to focus more on ourselves, they're doing a great job in the West, they're playing really well, but it was the next game for us," said Maxey, "I think we did a great job of accepting the challenge, and going out there and being successful."

With their win on Wednesday, the Sixers extend their lead over the Orlando Magic, as well as staying hot on the trail of the Milwaukee Bucks, with only two games separating the two teams.
