Tyrese Maxey Tied Lakers Star With Impressive Scoring-Turnover Stat

Tyrese Maxey is at the top of the NBA with an impressive scoring-turnover statistic.

With Tyrese Maxey finding himself as the Philadelphia 76ers’ primary point guard in the absence of the formerly disgruntled and now-traded All-Star James Harden, many wondered whether the young guard could take the next step with his scoring and passing while continuing to take care of the ball.

While there is a lot of basketball left to be played, Maxey has surpassed expectations as he’s thrived in his role as Philadelphia’s starting point guard.

As far as the questions surrounding his game, the young guard has dished out more assists and scored more points while keeping turnovers at a minimum.

Recently, a stat has been revealed about NBA players who have games where they scored more than 25 points and failed to register a single turnover.

Really, to no surprise, Maxey sits at the top of the list, sharing the spotlight with Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis.

According to Statmuse, Maxey has registered over 25 points without turning the ball over in five of his 24 appearances this season. Davis is the only other player to accomplish that feat at this time.

Maxey first achieved that stat line in the season opener against the Milwaukee Bucks when he scored 31 points in 40 minutes. The next time he did it was on November 10 against the Detroit Pistons, with a 29-point showing in 30 minutes.

Davis and the LA Lakers caught Maxey’s 31-point outing without a turnover up close on November 27 in the Sixers’ 44-point blowout. Then, Maxey did it again on December 6 against the Washington Wizards, when he scored 26 points in 38 minutes. He made it back-to-back games, as he produced 30 points in 38 minutes against the Atlanta Hawks after a night in D.C.

Aside from Maxey, Davis, and two other players, nobody else in the league has posted a similar stat line more than two times. Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton trails Maxey and Davis with four games posting that line, while Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic made it three times.
