Tyrese Maxey Explains Verbal Exchange With Pelicans Fan
Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey is known for his easy-going personality, but had a rare change of heart on Wednesday night. During the Sixers matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans, he was seen getting into it with a fan sitting courtside.
In the video, Maxey is seen pleading with the fan, asking what more is he supposed to do. Without Joel Embiid in the lineup, the rising star did everything he could to lead the charge for the team. Maxey finished with a team-high 33 points, but it wasn't enough to propel the Sixers to victory.
This was very out of character for Maxey, and he later explained why. After the game, he made a post on social media detailing his side of what happened. Maxey admitted that stuff like this doesn't really bug him, but he alluded to comments being made by the fan about his mother.
Even with this verbal interaction with a disgruntled fan, Maxey was able to stay on his path towards stardom. His 33 points against the Pelicans was his third-highest-scoring game this season. The highest being against the Indiana Pacers when he notched a career-high 50 points.
Without the reigning MVP in the lineup, the Sixers were unable to keep their winning ways going in New Orleans. They not sit at 12-6 on the year, good for fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Following their loss to Zion Williamson and the Pelicans, the Sixers travel to Boston on Friday for their third meeting of the year with the Celtics.
