Over the weekend, the Philadelphia 76ers received horrific news regarding Kelly Oubre Jr. The veteran forward was sent to the hospital with broken ribs after allegedly being struck by a car in Center City Philly.

Earlier this week, Nick Nurse provided an update on Oubre's status going forward. He is already back with the team as a spectator as the team continues to monitor his health.

Before the Sixers tipped off against the Boston Celtics on national television Wednesday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski detailed the latest on Oubre. He reported that he could be back on the floor for the Sixers in roughly three weeks.

"I'm told that it's a realistic expectation that he could be back in two plus weeks," Woj said pregame. "Perhaps the end of November, the beginning of December."

Prior to getting injured, Oubre was looking like one of the biggest steals in all of free agency. Despite signing with the Sixers so late in the offseason, he managed to come aboard and make an immediate impact.

Whether it was off the bench or in the starting lineup, Oubre was providing offensive firepower playing off Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. In his first eight games with his new team, Oubre averaged 16.3 PPG and 5.1 RPG while shooting just under 38% from beyond the arc.

Given the severity of his injuries, only missing a few weeks seems like a blessing for Oubre and the Sixers. The team has missed his scoring punch in recent games, as it has been a big void to fill. Despite the Celtics being without Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis, they managed to hand the Sixers their second-straight loss on Wednesday night.
