The 2024 Slam Dunk Contest will have a familiar face on Saturday night at the 2024 NBA All-Star games.

Mac McClung, the G League standout, will defend his title from last season.

Last year, McClung represented the Philadelphia 76ers at the competition. Although he was initially invited to the contest as a member of their G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, McClung earned a two-way contract from the 76ers leading up to the event.

McClung’s performance in the Dunk Contest was unforgettable for Philly fans. With his show-stopping moves, McClung had a perfect score throughout the entire competition, aside from one judge’s decision in the first round when he was scored a 49 instead.

When McClung was crowned the NBA’s Dunk Champion, he made 76ers history by becoming the first player from the franchise to win. He was the first to participate since 2006 when Andre Iguodala competed.

This season, McClung will finally represent a G League squad in the contest. After moving on from Philadelphia this past summer, McClung garnered interest from the Orlando Magic. After he was waived before the start of the 2023-2024 season, McClung landed on Orlando’s G League affiliate, the Osceola Magic.

In 14 games with the Magic, McClung has averaged 24 points, five rebounds, and seven assists. He’s knocked down 52 percent of his field goals and 39 percent of his threes. Last year, McClung won a Slam Dunk and G League title with his time on the 76ers. He’ll look to repeat the first accomplishment in Indiana on Saturday night.
