Will Nets’ Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson Debut vs. Sixers?
The Brooklyn Nets were one of the most active teams ahead of the NBA trade deadline. With two of their All-Stars demanding trades once again, Brooklyn pulled the trigger this time around. Kyrie Irving became a member of the Dallas Mavericks, and Kevin Durant joined the Phoenix Suns.
Now, the Nets have a handful of new players, and two of them could make their debuts with the team on Saturday night against the Philadelphia 76ers.
In the trade with Phoenix, which went down on the early morning of deadline day on Thursday, the Nets acquired Cam Johnson and Mikal Bridges.
Leading up to the Saturday night game between the Sixers and the Nets, Brooklyn initially listed Johnson and Bridges as questionable. Considering the trade was still pending, they were not yet cleared for action.
Their statuses have now changed. With the NBA pushing the deal through officially, Bridges and Johnson are members of the Nets. And with that, Brooklyn has upgraded their playing statuses for Saturday night to available.
With Phoenix, Cam Johnson played against the Sixers on five different occasions. During those matchups, he spent an average of 23 minutes on the floor. He drained 38 percent of his shots against the Sixers, putting up eight points per game.
As for Bridges, he’s played in nine games against the Sixers in his career. Averaging 33 minutes on the floor in those games, Bridges was good for 13 points per matchup and four rebounds per game. He knocked down 53 percent of his shots and hit on 33 percent of his threes. In his last three outings against the Sixers, Bridges spent more than 40 minutes on the court.
Both former Suns likely won’t pick up a ton of minutes against the Sixers on Saturday, as they just joined the team. Since they are available, though, there is a good chance they’ll get the nod to play.
