Before he even welcomed the grand and heartwarming reception that the Portland Trail Blazers will present in his homecoming to the Moda Center on Wednesday night, Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard already embraced an early honoring from the Rip City courtesy of his longtime company brand.

Adidas names Portland basketball gym after Dame

On Tuesday, Adidas conducted a special ceremony in which they dedicated the campus basketball court of their Portland headquarters to the eight-time All-Star, naming it as the “Damian Lillard Court.” This marked the first time in the history of the multinational company that they named one of its campuses after an athlete.

Dame attended the ceremonial event in which he was joined by his parents, siblings, and three children. He expressed his gratitude and acknowledgment for the tribute made by Adidas towards his legacy with the brand and as the greatest Blazer ever.

“This is definitely a gesture that I’m moved by,” Lillard said. “I feel the respect. I feel the love and appreciation for not just what I’ve been able to do in my career, but how I’ve been able to handle it as a person.”

Dame has been repping the three stripes company since coming to the league in 2012. In 2014, he hammered a groundbreaking $100 million contract extension for ten years with Adidas.

Under Adidas, he was able to feature eight various signature shoes. He notably released the Dame Certified sneaker last year, which is being sold for an affordable $90 price.
