Bobby Portis’ focus is all set on the Bucks’ upcoming titanic clash with the Celtics: “I’m ready”
After overpowering the Washington Wizards in a high-octane offensive clash on Monday, the Milwaukee Bucks will reach the final stop of their brief two-game road trip in Boston. Their soon landing in Beantown will truly hold a significant weight, not just because the Celtics have been their longtime and enduring Eastern Conference rivals, but because they are also about to have their reunion with Jrue Holiday – who is now their opponent after three years of solid collaboration highlighted by an NBA title in the 2020-21 season.
Wednesday night will mark the first of the four meetings that the Bucks will go head-to-head with the C's this season. As such, Bobby Portis Jr. can't wait to finally feel the hostile environment of the TD Garden again.
Ready for the fight
Shortly after he helped the Bucks against the Wizards with a 17-point performance off the bench, Portis already redirected his focus and sight on their upcoming statement game against Boston. Knowing the narratives and the initial stakes of the upcoming bout, the Bucks' sixth man can only be amped up about meeting the Celtics for the first time this season.
"I'm ready to hoop against them," Portis said. "I'm ready, man. It's going to be a fun game to play in. Obviously, a great storyline. … I'm a fan of basketball, and I can't wait to get out there on the floor and hoop."
All hands on deck
After a seismic offseason, the Bucks will collide against a much different Celtics team. The C's might have parted ways with Marcus Smart, Grant Williams, Robert Williams III, and Malcolm Brogdon, but they took a heavy offensive retooling by obtaining both Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis. So far, this pair of new acquisitions have been robust for the current Boston squad that holds a league-leading 11-3 record.
As usual, expect a major competitive fight between these two Eastern Conference powerhouses. It's about time that the Bucks finally receive the first gigantic test of their contending state in the Giannis Antetokounmpo-Damian Lillard era.
