Brook Lopez was pleased to see the Milwaukee Bucks show some resolve
The Milwaukee Bucks’ 133-129 overtime win over the Chicago Bulls was not pretty by any stretch of the imagination. Milwaukee held a 14-point lead and watched it evaporate, while Damian Lillard missed 14 of his 17 shots. Despite all of that, the Bucks dug deep in the extra session to come away with the victory.
After the game, veteran center Brook Lopez lauded his team for showing resolve when they had their backs against the wall.
Bucks stepped up
Things didn’t look good for Milwaukee as they trailed 119-118 in the early goings of overtime. However, they kept their wits about them and scored the following eight points to take control of the game before putting it away with two free throws from Lillard.
“It was just great to see our resolve,” Lopez said. The Bucks raised their intensity on defense and held the Bulls to 0-for-9 shooting in overtime.
“I thought whoever was put in the action did a great job of stepping up and taking the challenge. Whoever was out there on the floor. Giannis at one time. Khris. Dame. Our guys were stepping it up and accepting that challenge.”
The win is all that matters
Win ugly or win beautiful; at the end of the day, it's about getting a win for the Bucks, said coach Adrian Griffin.
“Last time we played Chicago, it was a different outcome,” Griffin said.
“But I thought we continued to fight, continued to execute down the stretch. These wins, they don’t ask how you got it, but it’s how many you’re going to get at the end of the year, that’s the most important thing. It’s a W. I walked in the locker room, and I said, ‘It’s 129 Bulls, 133 Bucks, that’s all that matters right now.'”
