The Milwaukee Bucks’ former top draft pick Jabari Parker is eying a career revival by way of Phoenix as he is set to participate in a workout for the Suns that involves other NBA players. The former Duke star last played in the Association in the 2021-2022 season when he suited up for the Boston Celtics.

A chance at redemption

The Bucks had high hopes for the athletic 6-foot-8 forward when they selected him second overall in the 2014 NBA Draft, right behind top pick Andrew Wiggins and ahead of this season’s MVP, Joel Embiid. However, his rookie campaign was cut short when he tore his ACL 25 games into the season.

After recovering, Parker would go on to play for Chicago, Washington, and Atlanta, averaging double-figures in each of his first six seasons. However, his last taste of NBA action came in early 2022 when he played 12 games for the Boston Celtics but was waived in January 2022.

According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, Parker would be joined at the workout by another NBA player looking for another squad—Stanley Johnson.

Suns need role players

The Suns are a top-heavy squad that features three All-Stars in Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and the recently-acquired Bradley Beal. The team also has a promising big man Deandre Ayton. However, beyond that, the team is in need of experienced role players who can help fill out the rotation and provide valuable minutes.

Johnson could be one of those players, as he has NBA experience under their belt. Parker has proven himself to be an efficient scorer from all three levels and could—health willing—be a vital piece off the bench for this title-contending Suns squad.
