Forwards the Milwaukee Bucks need to take a closer look at
On the surface, the Milwaukee Bucks looked like a squad that was as formidable as any team in the entire Association. They had a superstar in Giannis Antetokounmpo, a deep roster full of capable veterans, and a well-respected coach in Mike Budenholzer. However, the Bucks struggled to find their form when it mattered most and got bounced in the first round of the NBA Playoffs this season by the red-hot Miami Heat.
As the Bucks try to pick up the pieces of their failed campaign and start anew, it’s become evident that wing depth is a component the team needs to address. The team has a lot of questions surrounding its roster heading to the 2023-2024 season, and these two players may be the key to unlocking Milwaukee’s true potential.
Kelly Oubre Jr.
The Bucks need an infusion of youth and jump-out-of-the-gym athleticism, and Charlotte Hornets forward Kelly Oubre brings both to the table. A 20-point-per-game scorer for the Hornets this season, Oubre’s versatility will come in handy for a Bucks squad that, at times, leaned all too often on their outside shooting proficiency.
Although the eight-year pro missed a ton of games this season due to hand and shoulder injuries, his ability to get to the basket and play hard-nosed defense makes him an intriguing option for Milwaukee moving forward.
Jerami Grant
Truth be told, Portland Trail Blazer forward Jerami Grant will not come cheap, but his skill set, highlighted by his two-way brilliance and ability to get up the floor with ease, is worth the price of admission.
A player who put up 20 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and nearly a block and a steal per contest this season for Portland, Grant would be an ideal fit for a Bucks team looking to bring in more length and defensive versatility. An unrestricted free agent, Grant will no doubt be looking for a raise from the $20 million he made this season, which may prove difficult for the Bucks to make happen.
