Giannis Antetokounmpo agrees to a 3-year contract extension with the Milwaukee Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks pulled off yet another big move when they sealed a deal extending Giannis Antetokounmpo’s contract to another three years.
Antetokounmpo’s tenure in Milwaukee was a hot topic the past few days, and the Greek Freak put to rest all speculations by agreeing to stay with the Bucks for years to come.
Per a report by Shams Charania of The Athletic, the two-time MVP has agreed to a three-year, $186 maximum contract extension.

Winning over money
Giannis seemed to have confirmed the deal through a social media post that included the hashtag “extended.”
“Milwaukeeeee!! Let’s get it!!! #BucksInSix #Extended,” read Giannis’ post.

A few days back, Giannis was non-committal when asked if he was open to signing a contract extension with the Bucks. Giannis made it clear that he was loyal to the Bucks, but the team had to win for him to stay.
Before the reported contract extension, Giannis was signed to the Bucks until 2025 and was eligible to sign a three-year contract extension worth $169 million on October 23rd. Giannis could have commanded a four-year deal worth $234 million if waited until next year to sign a contract extension.
Huge off-season moves
Signing Giannis to a contract extension is one of the more critical moves that the Bucks have made this off-season.
With the new regular season just a few weeks away, Milwaukee shook the league when they acquired Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers while letting go of Jrue Holiday in a three-team deal that also involved the Phoenix Suns.
Winning was Giannis’ priority for him to stay longer with the Bucks, and it is not hard to assume that the arrival of Dame made it easier for the Bucks organization to lock up the Greek Freak for several more years.
