"It's been a long, long journey"- Giannis Antetokounmpo looks back after playing franchise-record 712th game with the Milwaukee Bucks
Giannis Antetokounmpo had a night to remember when the Milwaukee Bucks outlasted the Toronto Raptors, 118-113, on Tuesday at the Fiserv Forum.
Antetokounmpo made all nine shots from the field en route to scoring 22 points. He also had 13 rebounds and 10 assists for his 33rd career triple-double.
The night when history was made
The game was even more memorable because Giannis became the franchise's all-time leader for most games played.
Now in his 10th season with the Bucks, Antetokounmpo played his 712th game for the team, surpassing Junior Bridgeman, who also played for ten seasons with the Bucks.
Giannis was Milwaukee's 15th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. He was 18 years old then, one of the youngest players ever to make it to the NBA.
A long journey
From a budding player who was only good for 6.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.8 blocks in his rookie season, Giannis has certainly come a long way.
Antetokounmpo is already the franchise leader in points, assists, triple-doubles, free throws and minutes played.
"It's been a long, long journey. There's more to be accomplished yet, I believe," said Antetokounmpo, who was instrumental in the Bucks' championship run in 2021.
For this season, Antetokounmpo leads the Bucks in scoring and rebounding with averages of 31.4 and 11.9, respectively.
The Antetokounmpo-led Bucks are the first team to reach 50 wins and the first to make the playoffs this season.
Holding an NBA-best 51-20 record, Milwaukee is at the number one spot in the Eastern Conference team standings.
