The Milwaukee Bucks quickly bounced back from their first loss in the last 17 games, keeping their place as the NBA leaders by beating the Washington Wizards, 117-111, on Sunday night.

Stealing a triple-double

Giannis Antetokounmpo collected his fourth triple-double of the season by finishing with 23 points, a season-high 13 assists, and ten rebounds.

Antetokounmpo sealed his 34th career-triple double by rebounding his intentionally missed shot with a second left.

“I was thinking about scoring the ball, but I feel like in those situations, it’s best to kind of keep the ball,” Antetokounmpo said. “But yeah, I just tried to play the game smart and kind of stole one.”

The Bucks improved to 46-18, staying one and a half games ahead of the Boston Celtics (45-20) for the number one spot in the Eastern Conference team standings.

The Bucks rebounded from their 130-133 loss to the Philadelphia Sixers at home on Saturday night by making 22 of their 49 attempts from the three-point area.

The loss to the Sixers snapped the Bucks’ 16-game win streak as they fell four straight wins shy of matching the franchise’s longest winning streak.

Depth

Jevon Carter scored 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc. Jrue Holiday added 19 points.

Aside from Carter, six other Bucks hit multiple trifectas. Joe Ingles dropped four triples, Brook Lopez, Grayson Allen, and Holiday each had three, and Pat Connaughton had two.

“We feel like we’ve got a lot of depth. We’ve got a lot of guys that are good shooters that can get hot from the 3-point line. So that’s part of a good team and being able to play on back-to-backs and make it through the season and be prepared for the playoffs,” Milwaukee coach Mike Budenholzer said.

Bradley Beal scored 33 points, and Kristaps Porzingis added 24 points along with 14 rebounds for Washington, which lost for the second time at home in two nights to stay in 10th place in the East with a 30-34 record.
