Jrue Holiday on returning to Milwaukee to face the Bucks: "It should be fun"
Jrue Holiday will be playing at the Fiserv Forum wearing a different uniform for the first time after three seasons. Holiday and the Boston Celtics will take on the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night, marking Jrue’s first game in the city since he was traded just before the season started.
Jrue is gunning for another win against Milwaukee after he and the Celtics nipped the Bucks in their first meeting this season on November 22nd, 119-116, at the TD Garden. Holiday scored just five points in the win and spent most of the time guarding Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Expecting a fun experience
Holiday is looking forward to a fun experience in what could be an emotional return to Milwaukee as he also expressed confidence that the Celtics can make it two in a row against the Bucks.
“We're a good team. We've beat them before. I'm very confident that we have a good chance to beat them again. So, I think, to be able to go back to Milwaukee should be fun. Again, a place where I was there for three years, and we did great things there, but I'm on to better things,” Holiday told reporters after the Celtics’ 127-120 overtime win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night.
Worthy addition
Holiday played a vital role in the Bucks’ championship run in 2021. An All-Star last year, Jrue was traded prior to the start of the 2023-24 NBA season in a shocking multi-team deal that sent Damian Lillard to Milwaukee.
Holiday has turned out to be a solid addition for the Celtics, as he is averaging 13.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.7 assists while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 42.0 percent from the three-point range in the 33 games that he has played this season so far.
Behind the quartet of Holiday, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porzingis, the Celtics are soaring in the Eastern Conference as they occupy the No. 1 spot with a league-best 29-8 record.
