"A testament of what a pro is about" - Khris Middleton earns praise for claiming Bucks’ third all-time scoring spot
On Monday night against the Detroit Pistons, Khris Middleton made a historic feat yet again for himself and in the Milwaukee Bucks' record books by becoming the franchise's third all-time leading scorer, surpassing Glenn Robinson Sr.'s 12,010 mark.
The star swingman drained a three-pointer with 2:04 left that pushed him atop the Big Dog in the team's all-time scoring list. Now, he only trails both Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (14,211) and teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo (17,558+) on the leaderboard after leaping through Bob Dandridge (11,478), Michael Redd (11,554) and Sidney Moncrief (11,594) this season.
A perfect figure of hard work and being a professional
From being a second-rounder to now an undisputed franchise great, K-Mid truly has one of the most compelling stories in the league. And now, he just solidified his case as a Milwaukee icon by securing another remarkable milestone with the Bucks.
For head coach Adrian Griffin, it has been a wonderful story for Middleton who proudly stands as a perfect model of hard work and dedication amongst the team's young guns.
“I asked Khris, ‘What pick were you?’ and he was the 38th pick [of the 2012 Draft]. Obviously he started his career here [in Detroit]. It's just a testament of what a pro is about. … It takes a lot to come from where he started — he was drafted right here by the Pistons — to where he is now, an NBA champion,” he said.
“But more than anything else, I just love the influence that he has on our team especially with the young guys.”
Honored and blessed to witnessed history
Like coach Griffin, Brook Lopez is also delighted to see Khris taking another huge step in his superb progress as a Buck legend.
For Brook, it's only just a matter of time again before Khash creates a new personal achievement for himself by wearing a Milwaukee uniform
“It’s so cool to see," said Lopez. "He’s made so many clutch buckets for us since I’ve been here, in preseason all the way to Game 6 of the Finals. And obviously he’s done this since before I was here. I’m just honored to be a part of it and I can’t wait to see him continue climbing that list.”
