Although Milwaukee Bucks sharpshooter Malik Beasley didn’t make it past the first round of the 2024 All-Star Three-Point Contest, the veteran guard expressed his joy in competing against the NBA’s best shooters and is already looking forward to gaining an invite to next year’s shootout.

Beasley tallied only 20 points and was relegated to cheering on his teammate, Damian Lillard, who won his second straight Three-Point Contest title.

Beasley cherishes the experience

Now playing in his eighth season in the NBA, the former Florida State ace competed in the Three-Point Contest for the first time in his career. He said the experience was everything he envisioned it would be and then some.

“Definitely what I wanted and hoped for. Been trying for the last three years to get here, and now I'm finally here,” Beasley said.

“Usually, I'm here to party and have fun with people and support other people. But this year, I'm here to win my own. And so it's been cool.”

Playing in his first season in Milwaukee, Beasley is having a stellar season, averaging 11.4 points per game and shooting over 44 percent from three-point country. He plays a significant role in the Bucks’ offense and has become a reliable spot-up option whenever defenses load up on Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard.

Not his night

After the event, Beasley relayed how good his shots felt. However, things just didn’t go his way.

“I felt all my shots were good, a lot of them went in and out. So, you just gotta live with that, man. It’s a blessing to be here. You can prepare by doing all the rotation, but it’s an in-the-moment thing, so whoever is ready in the moment is going to win,” Beasley remarked.

With this year’s shootout done, Beasley is already looking forward to the next one.

“Just next year, I gotta prepare, be ready, get another opportunity. I’m glad it’s over with. Now I can go relax and get ready for the playoffs, man.”
