Malik Beasley etched his name in the Milwaukee Bucks record books after he fired seven triples in the team’s 120-84 thrashing of the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night.

By going 7-for-9 from three-point range, Beasley set a franchise record for having the most games with more than five made three-pointers in a game. The first-year Milwaukee player now has 13 games with 5+ plus triples, shattering the old franchise record set by Ray Allen.

Playing good defense got Malik going

During his time with the Bucks, Allen recorded 12 games with 5+ triples. Current Bucks center Brook Lopez is third on the list with nine games.

Beasley achieved the feat after going 0-for-9 from three-point range in Milwaukee’s 105-129 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday night.

“Last night, I knew going in I had a chance to break the record, and I put too much pressure on myself thinking about my shot,” Beasley said. “And tonight, I did the opposite. I focused on defense and not getting screened.”

Malik contributed on both ends

Beasley finished with 21 points in the win against the Hornets, but his effort on the defensive end made coach Doc Rivers happy about his performance.

“Malik tonight was phenomenal, and I think most people would say shooting, and we will say defense. He was phenomenal defensively, and we talked about that. You do your job defensively; the basketball gods will reward you with open shots, and that happened tonight for him,” said Rivers.

Malik was touted as a notable offseason addition for Milwaukee as the Bucks need spot-up shooters when the defense collapses on Giannis Antetokounmpo.

So far, the 6-foot-4 wing player is delivering what is expected of him. In all the 51 games he has played this season, he is averaging 11.4 points per game on a high 44.6% shooting from three-point land.
