Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the league’s ferocious rim attackers. He doesn’t shy from contact and that makes him a regular customer at the free throw line.

But on Tuesday night, the unthinkable happened when Giannis did not take a single free throw attempt in the Milwaukee Bucks’ 97-123 loss to the Miami Heat. Antetokounmpo played for 33 minutes and finished with 23 points but never made it to the free throw line in the entire contest.

Considering that Giannis is averaging 11 free throw attempts this season, failing to earn a single foul shot in the loss was simply inexplicable.

Lightning strikes twice for Giannis

It was not the first time that the Greek Freak did not have a single free throw attempt but what makes it ironic was that the last time the Greek Freak had zero attempt from the charity stripe was also against Miami. On February 24th last year, Giannis recorded a 0-0 stat from the free throw area in a 128-99 win over the Heat.

Antetokounmpo did not have a single free throw attempt in the win largely because of his failure to finish the game due to knee issues. Giannis played for just six minutes as he left for good late in the opening period.

Free throws drought

In the recent loss to the Heat, the Bucks only had 11 free throw attempts as a team and made ten of them. Miami took 18 free throw attempts and converted 14.

Giannis not making it to the free throw line was one of the factors in the recent loss to the Heat. Antetokounmpo will try to make up for it when the Bucks battle the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday night.
