The Milwaukee Bucks fend off the Orlando Magic to sweep a six-game homestand
On Thursday night, the Milwaukee Bucks completed a sweep of their six-game homestand when they handled the Orlando Magic 118-114.
With their 15th-straight win at home, the Bucks improved to 16-2 at the Fiserv Forum.
Old reliables deliver for the Bucks
Milwaukee’s current winning streak at home is its longest since it won its first 18 home games in the 1991-92 season.
Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 37 points, ten rebounds, and six assists as the Bucks improved to 21-7 to firm up their hold of the second spot in the Eastern Conference.
Damian Lillard added 24 points and eight assists, while Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez added 14 apiece as Milwaukee achieved what is by far its longest winning streak of the season.
Tight endgame duel
Avenging their 97-112 loss to the same Orlando squad in their first meeting this season, the Bucks built an 80-65 lead halfway through the third period.
But just as everyone thought it was smooth-sailing for the Bucks, Orlando came roaring back as a three-pointer by Franz Wagner pushed the Magic within 91-93 with still 9:02 left.
Orlando missed several opportunities to tie or pull ahead when it came up empty in four possessions. Lopez scored on a layup, Antetokounmpo had his own basket in the paint, and after Franz Wagner converted a layup, Lillard sank three free throws that made it 100-93 for Milwaukee with 6:31 to go.
The final score was the closest the Magic could get after Gary Harris hit a meaningless three-pointer with only 1.9 seconds left.
Franz Wagner led the Magic with 29 points, while Paolo Banchero had 23. Cole Anthony added 18 points and ten rebounds as the Magic absorbed their fourth-straight loss to drop to 16-11 in the season
