Milwaukee Bucks promote Sidney Dobner to become the first female assistant coach in franchise history
The Milwaukee Bucks have announced who the coaching staff would be under new head coach Adrian Griffin and it includes Sidney Dobner, who was promoted from head video coordinator, thereby becoming the first woman assistant coach in franchise history.
Ready for the moment
Dobner began her career with the Bucks in 2018 when she was brought on to work for the team’s G League affiliate squad, the Wisconsin Herd. She became an intern for the basketball operations department the following season. She hopped on to the Bucks during the team’s championship season in 2020-2021 and has been preparing for this moment ever since.
One thing Dobner has never been remiss at is providing answers for questions that have yet to be asked.
"One of the things that I’ve been told since Day 1 is you may not be asked the question, but you should always have an answer,” Dobner said. “And so, in those situations, I felt like I was prepared with an answer."
New coaching staff
Griffin will have plenty of experience on his coaching staff with the presence of former Bucks head coach Terry Stotts, former assistant Joe Prunty, and former Toronto Raptors assistants Patrick Mutumbo and Nate Mitchell. Former Detroit assistant DJ Bakker is also on the coaching staff, while Josh Oppenheimer and Vin Baker were retained from the previous staff of Mike Budenholzer.
