Milwaukee Bucks to interview Portland Trail Blazers assistant Scott Brooks
The Milwaukee Bucks are set to interview former NBA head coach and current Portland Trail Blazers assistant Scott Brooks for their vacant head coaching position. Brooks touts an impressive resume that includes a wealth of experience as a head coach. He previously coached the Oklahoma City Thunder squad for seven seasons and led the team to the NBA Finals in 2012, where they lost to the LeBron James-led Miami Heat.
Former Coach of the Year
After previously serving as interim head coach, the Thunder named Brooks its head coach in 2009. With Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook, Brooks and the Thunder hit the ground running and finished the regular season with a 50-32 record—a massive increase of 28 wins from the previous season. Brooks was then named the Coach of the Year in 2010, a remarkable achievement in his first year at the helm.
Stellar track record
Brooks has also shown an innate ability to work seamlessly with a team’s superstars. Aside from the aforementioned superstar trio of the Thunder, Brooks has also worked with Bradley Beal and Westbrook once again during his time with the Washington Wizards, where he coached for five seasons.
During that stretch, he led the Wizards to back-to-back Playoff appearances as well as an appearance in the Play-in tournament in 2021. What separates Brooks from other coaching candidates is his 12-year experience as an NBA pro and his championship pedigree with the Houston Rockets in 1994.
