Milwaukee Bucks to pursue free agent wingman Eric Gordon
The Milwaukee Bucks are reportedly interested in acquiring veteran shooting guard Eric Gordon. The 34-year-old was recently waived by the Los Angeles Clippers in what appeared to be a move that would substantially shave millions from the team’s tax bill. The Bucks clearly need more wing depth, and Gordon—who shoots 37 percent from beyond the arc for his career—would certainly help bolster the team’s backcourt with his perimeter shooting and veteran savvy.
Plenty of competition
The Bucks, though, are not the only team interested in Gordon’s services, as Kelly Iko of The Athletic reports that many others are angling to get him. Gordon’s camp has made it clear, though, that the former Indiana star wants an “outlined role” with a team that has a chance of contending for an NBA title.
“Lakers, Grizzlies, Wolves, Suns, Bucks, Blazers and others — league sources say. Gordon, 34, who was recently waived by the Los Angeles Clippers, is said to be prioritizing an outlined role with a contender,” Iko wrote.
Fit with the Bucks
With Khris Middleton expected to return to the Bucks, Gordon would no doubt anchor the reserves and help stabilize them with his experience. A 16-year pro, Gordon showed this past season that he still has plenty left in the tank and averaged 12.4 points on solid shooting splits in time spent with the Houston Rockets and the Clippers.
